The short version

- You are never asked for your name or email address. There is no sign-up.

- We count how many times each game is played. We do not record who played it.

- In games with a high-score ranking, the name you choose and your score are shown publicly. Please do not use your real name.

- Save data and favorites are stored only on your own device.

- We also use Google Analytics to see which games people play.

- No ads. We never sell what we collect to anyone.

1. The Basic Idea

CHAMAGE GAMES (https://chamagame.com/) is a free mini-game site run by one person. Since children play here too, it is built around a simple rule: do not collect personal information in the first place.

There is no account or login feature, and you are never asked to enter your name, address, phone number, email address, or date of birth.

2. Play Counting (Analytics)

To find out which games are being played, we record the following on our own server. Separately from this, we also use Google Analytics (see section 8 below).

  • How many times a game was opened, cleared, and shared
  • How many seconds the page was actually being viewed (capped at 2 hours; time in a background tab is not counted)
  • The date and time of the record
  • An anonymous identifier that is valid for that day only

A little more detail on that fourth item. So that one person opening a game several times in a day is not counted twice, three things — the visiting IP address, the browser type (user agent), and that day's date — are joined together and hashed with SHA-1 (turned into a different string that cannot be reversed). Only that hash is stored.

In other words, the IP address and browser information themselves are not stored. And because the hash changes when the date changes, these play-count records cannot follow the same person from one day to the next.

The high-score ranking, however, uses a separate anonymous per-device ID. That one does not include the date, so records sent from the same device are grouped together. See section 5 below for details.

These records are used only to show the popular-game rankings and to decide what to build next.

3. What Is Stored on Your Device

The following are saved inside your browser (localStorage).

Never sent to the server

  • The list of games you marked as favoriteschamage-favs
  • The list of games you have opened (used by the "not played yet" filter)chamage_played
  • The list of games you played today (used for the daily mission)chamage_today
  • Save data, high scores, and settings for each game (the key names differ per game)
  • Your sound on/off settingchamage_sound
  • How the game list is sortedchamage_sort
  • Your opt-out setting, paired with the cookie described belowchamage-optout

Also sent to the server when a ranking record is submitted

  • The name shown in the ranking, which you choose yourself. If you have not set one, it becomes "Nameless Player"chamage_name
  • An anonymous ID unique to your device. It is not stored as-is: only a SHA-1 hash of it is saved. It is used to group records from the same device so that your own rank can be shownchamage_pid

These two are sent only by games that have a high-score ranking. We cannot see any of the other items.

All of these disappear if you clear your browser data. However, records already submitted to the ranking remain on the server even after you clear your device.

The following cookies are also used. By their nature, cookies are sent to the server.

  • chamage_optout — the setting that turns play counting off. Its value is just "1" and contains nothing that identifies anyone. The value is not stored; it is used only to decide, on the spot, not to record.
  • _ga / _ga_… ... Cookies set by Google Analytics. They hold a random string of letters and numbers and are used to count repeat visits from the same browser. They contain no name or email address. They expire after 2 years.
  • Cookies that keep the site working safely (for example, the mechanism that blocks fraudulent form submissions)
4. If You Do Not Want to Be Counted

Open the /optout page and play on that browser, on that device, will never be counted again. The setting lasts 10 years.

With this setting, not only does our own server stop counting you, Google Analytics is not loaded at all - nothing is sent to Google in the first place.

Google Analytics also will not run if your browser blocks cookies or has tracking protection turned on.

On a device with this setting, records are no longer submitted to the high-score ranking either. You can still view the ranking.

Open it once per device and per browser (phone, computer, and so on). To undo it, open /optin.

5. What Online Features Send

Most games run entirely on your own device. In games with features that connect you to other people, however, the following is stored on the server.

  • High-score ranking (present in most games) — the name shown in the ranking, the score, a short note about the record (such as "Hard 12.4s"), a hash of the anonymous device ID described in section 3, and the date and time. These are shown publicly both in the game and on the site's Ranking page.
  • This record is sent automatically when a game ends — you do not have to press a button. The daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, and all-time tabs simply filter the same records by date, so the records themselves are kept rather than deleted. There is currently no feature for deleting only your own records; if you would like them removed, please contact us via section 13 below.
  • Gomoku (versus) — the 4-digit room number, a passphrase-like string generated automatically by the server, and the positions of the moves played. No nickname or score is involved. Rooms that have gone unused for a while are deleted automatically.
  • Blend-In Chameleon — the picture you drew, your nickname, and records such as how many times you escaped. These are shown publicly inside the game. Once the post limit is reached, the oldest posts are removed, and you can delete your own posts from the same device.
  • Dot Hunter — nickname, title, score, and level. These are shown publicly in the rankings. Daily, weekly, and monthly records are deleted after a set period. The yearly and all-time records remain.
  • Kenmin Tile and TILE NATIONS — only the prefecture or country you picked, plus total play and clear counts. No per-person record is created.

You are free to choose any nickname. Please do not use your real name or anything that identifies you. Post only pictures that are fine for everyone to see.

6. Feedback & Bug Report Form

What you send through the form is used to fix bugs and improve the site. To help track down causes, two further items are stored.

  • Which page it was sent from (the referring page's URL)
  • The browser type (user agent — so that "Safari on iPhone" and the like can be identified)

IP addresses are not stored, and there is no name field. Please do not write personal information — name, address, phone number, email — into the form.

Submissions may be deleted once they have been dealt with.

7. Mechanics That Keep the Site Running

When you open a page, a temporary server-side record (a session) is created so that the site works correctly and safely. It includes the visiting IP address and browser information, but it is deleted automatically after a while and is never used to work out who did what.

Ordinary server access logs may also be retained by the hosting provider's own systems.

8. Third-Party Services

CHAMAGE GAMES uses the following outside services.

  • Google Tag Manager ... a container used to load Google Analytics and similar tools. It does not collect anything by itself.
  • Google Analytics (GA4) ... used to see which pages are viewed how often and where visitors arrive from. When you open a page, the following is sent to Google: the page URL, how long you viewed it, your screen size, your browser and device type, your approximate location (country and region only - never a street address), and your IP address. The IP address is used to work out that approximate location and is then discarded by Google; it is never stored, and we can never see it. Nothing that identifies you personally, such as a name or email address, is sent. Opening a game, clearing it and pressing share are also sent, together with the name of the game.
  • Google Fonts — used to load the typefaces. Opening a page contacts Google, which means your IP address and browser information are sent to Google.
  • X (formerly Twitter) and LINE sharing — these are plain links. If you do not click them, nothing is sent to those services.
  • Google account sign-in — used only so the operator can log in to the admin screen. It does not involve players at all.
9. About Advertising

At present we show no ads at all. We do not use ad networks such as Google AdSense.

We use Google Analytics for site statistics. It tells us which games people actually play, which helps us decide what to build next. We never use it to serve ads.

If advertising is ever introduced, this page will be updated beforehand to say which service is used and what information it involves.

10. Sharing with Third Parties

Information obtained through this site is never sold or handed to other companies or people. The exceptions are a lawful request for disclosure, and cases where it is necessary to protect someone's life or physical safety.

11. Retention

Play-count records are kept indefinitely for aggregation, because they contain nothing that identifies an individual.

Among the online-feature records, Gomoku rooms, Blend-In Chameleon pictures, and Dot Hunter's per-period records are deleted automatically by the mechanisms described in section 5. High-score ranking records, on the other hand, are currently not deleted automatically.

Data sent to Google Analytics is deleted automatically by Google after at most 14 months.

Records that are no longer needed are deleted as we go.

12. Use by Children

A note for parents: CHAMAGE GAMES has no sign-up and never asks for a name, address, or email address. Play counting is done only in a form where it is impossible to tell who played.

We do use Google Analytics, but never in a form that shows who was playing. What we learn helps us decide what to build next. We never use it for advertising. If you would rather not be counted, section 4 above explains how to turn it off for this device.

That said, some games let players post drawings and nicknames, and those are visible to other people. It helps to check together now and then whether what is being posted is fine to make public. If you spot a post that worries you, please tell us through the form.

The high-score ranking in particular appears in most games, and a record is submitted automatically when a game ends. Any name may be chosen, so we suggest deciding on one together at the start and avoiding real names, school names, and the like.

13. Questions and Deletion Requests

If you have questions about this policy or about deleting stored records, please get in touch through the feedback & bug report form.

Note that play-count records are stored in a form where it is impossible to tell whose they are, so deleting "just mine" is technically not possible. To stop future counting, use the method in section 4 above.

14. Changes to This Policy

This policy is updated whenever the site's features are added to or changed. The revised text applies from the moment it appears on this page.
